"Radio Jawhara FM", Tunisia's second private radio station gains ground
Tunis, September 1, 2005 (TunisiaOnline)
Five weeks after its launch on July 25,2005, Tunisia's second private radio station "Radio Jawhara FM" is already attracting about 27 % of listeners in the Sahel region (Sousse, Monastir, Mahdia and Kairouan), according to the results of a recent independent survey.
The survey was conducted by a private ratings measurement firm, during the month of August, based on a sample of 2,000 listeners of more than 12 years of age.
This station seems to be following the footsteps of "Radio Mosaique" , Tunisia's first private FM radio station, which retains the lion's share of radio audiences in the capital city and in the Tunisian North East.
Two Private radio stations and one pivate television channel have been launched in Tunisia since the end of State broadcasting monopoly in 2003.
