2008 edition of Carthage Investment Forum to highlight Euro-Med partnership and ICT's

Tunis, May 9, 2008 (TunisiaOnline)--The traditional Carthage Investment Forum which will be held in Gammarth north of Tunis will take place between June 12 and 13, 2008.

The event, which is placed under the auspices of the Ministry of Development and International Cooperation, is organized by the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA) and is mainly sponsored by ‘Tunisie Telecom' and ‘Le Groupe Chimique Tunisien'.

The Forum offers a thematic panel and a couple of workshops on the new opportunities created by Tunisia 's integration in the Euro-Mediterranean zone, as well as by bilateral agreements signed with Maghrebi countries.

The event will also witness the participation of a number of high- ranking officials such as Mr. Mohammed Ghannouchi , Prime Minister who will address the opening ceremony, Mr.Afif Chelbi, Minister of Industry, Energy and Small and Medium Enterprises who will lead a workshop dubbed “Manufacturing industries: the move to activities involving higher technological content”, as well as Mr. Lazhar Bououni, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technology who will lead a workshop dubbed “Tunisia, a regional center for high added value services”.

In becoming the first country on the southern rim of the Mediterranean to be part of the free trade zone with the EU, Tunisia has reaffirmed its standing, as the most attractive site for FDI's the Euro-Med zone.

This high profile gathering is expected to generate contacts as well as leading to partnership agreements with foreign operators, in addition to listening to testimonials of Tunisian success stories and previous experience in attracting businesses. Hundreds of Tunisian and foreign operators from all over the world, are expected to take part in the event.
