“Invest in Med” aims at boosting EU-Mediterranean relations

Tunis , June 23, 2008 (TunisiaOnline)--A group of organisations led by “Anima Investment Network” has launched “Invest in Med”, a 12 million Euro project co- financed by the European commission whose objective is to promote European investments in the area, as well as knotting solid ties between enterprises from both shores of the Mediterranean .

The project which is to span over 36 months, will implicate the 27 countries of the EU as well as partner countries south of the European neighborhood policy which gathers Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, the Palestinian Authority, Syria an Tunisia. It also aims at increasing the volume and quality of investments and of the Euro-Mediterranean trade, as well as contributing to a sustainable economic development in the area.

The actions which are to be set up within the framework of this project , include training programs and coaching, business meetings, the participation in professional salons, as well as the elaboration of practical tools to guide the enterprises in the area.

The primary beneficiaries of the projects are investors, enterprises, and more particularly,  small and medium enterprises, as well as agencies and institutions tasked with facilitating the promotion of business activities.

-August 12, 2006- President Ben Ali reaffirms Tunisia’s commitment to the code of personal status, a pioneering legislation adopted in 1956, which has granted Tunisian women equal rights with men. The code has banned polygamy, forced marriages and repudiation.
