Djerba hosts 29th edition of the international Ulysses Festival
Tunis, June 29, 2007 (TunisiaOnline) --Djerba, known in antiquity as the island of the lotus eaters, will host the 29 th edition of the international Ulysses Festival from July 21 to August 4, 2007.
The session which intends to celebrate one of the island's most illustrious visitors, Ulysses, will begin with a majestuous choreography of the great Greek hero, and will include cultural and environmental elements which will highlight the island's rich civilizational heritage.
Folk troupes from India , Serbia , Greece and Italy will take part in the event.
Several Arab and Tunisian artists will also be part of the show such as Lotfi Bouchnak, Noura Amine, Ahmed Cherif, Ahmed Mejri, Rami Ayech, and Hakim Salhi.
Finally, a one man show by the Tunisian performer Lamine Nahdi is scheduled to take place at the Houmet Essouk open air theatre.
For this year's edition, the festival organizers have decided to include a children's programme with the aim of raising their environmental awareness. The programme dubbed “Ulysses a friend of the environment will feature a sailing competition, sea games as well as the election of festival's most beautiful siren.
