Tunisian Foreign Minister meets with US Vice-President Dick Cheney
Tunis, June 15, 2007 (TunisiaOnline) --Mr Abdelwahab Abdallah, Tunisia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, met on Wednesday with US Vice- President Dick Cheney at the White House.
During the meeting, Mr Abdallah conveyed to Mr Cheney a message from President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali to President Georges. W. Bush.
He also evoked the visit of President Ben Ali to the United States in February 2004, stressing the traditional friendship linking the two people, as well as the mutual esteem both leaders hold for each other.
On his part, Mr Cheney expressed his satisfaction at the positive evolution of relations between both countries, and his aprpeciation for Tunisia 's achievements in various fields.
He also underscored The United State's commitment to working towards strengthening relations with Tunisia as a voice of moderation in the region.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to review the main issues of the moment, notably the situation in the Middle East and in Iraq .
The US Vice-President asked the Minister of Foreign Affairs to convey to President Ben Ali his feelings of friendship and consideration.
