A delegation of American corporate leaders due to visit Tunisia in October 2007

Tunis , June 15, 2007 (TunisiaOnline) --A delegation of some 20 American corporate leaders is due to visit Tunisia in October 2007. The mission organized by the Corporate Council on Africa , which aims at fostering business exchanges between the United States and Africa , was originally announced by the Republican Representative in Congress Mr Paul Gillmore who was recently in Tunis as a member of a delegation from the US Congress on a work visit in the country.

The last visit by American businessmen in Tunisia goes back to June 2005 on the occasion of a seminar on the perspectives of the free trade agreement between Tunisia and the United States .

The seminar was organized by the Tunisian American Chamber of Commerce (TACC).

US Library of Congress symposium celebrates Tunisia’s Code of Personal Status

-August 12, 2006- President Ben Ali reaffirms Tunisia’s commitment to the code of personal status, a pioneering legislation adopted in 1956, which has granted Tunisian women equal rights with men. The code has banned polygamy, forced marriages and repudiation.
