American painters revisit Tunisia's Cultural Heritage
Tunis , June 13, 2007 (TunisiaOnline)--A group of four American painters have cast a fresh eye on scenes from Tunisian everyday life, in an exhibit held in the “View” gallery near Carthage. The exhibit was an occasion for the artists to revisit the country's oriental cultural heritage in an innovative way.
Annette Mc Cahe, Joy Karr, Nathan Huff, and Carol Polish who are part of a tour of the Arab world are seeking to paint the history, customs and mores of these countries through their own American sensitivity.
Annette McCabe instills new life to her paintings by a singular use of colors. Thus, her brush endows the market of Tozeur with bright colors. The painting does not purport to be descriptive but rather impressionistic. The viewer can notice the fascination of this artist with the mythical amphitheatre of El Jem, the second largest Roman colosseum in the world.
Nathan Huff's artistic creations display his deep fascination with the naturalistic nude.
His personal perception of the human body is reflected in his works. Indeed, his peculiar addition of wax on his canvasses stresses the body. The nude for this artist reveals abstraction in cultures.
Amateur art plays an important role in this exhibit where innovation remains the central element.
The exhibit will run until June 24, 2007 .
