Tunisia hosts major African conference on electronic postal and financial services

Tunis , June 13, 2007 (TunisiaOnline) --From June 14 to 16, 2007 the sea side resort of Yasmine Hammamet will host “Technopost Africa 2007” an international conference jointly organized by the Tunisian Postal services, the Universal Postal Union, and the pan African Union of Posts.

The conference aims at presenting participants with the latest electronic postal and financial services based on information and communication technologies.

High -ranking officials from some 40 African countries will take part in the event including prominent international personalities, such as the president of the Universal Postal Union, the World Bank and African Development Bank CEO's .

The main items on the agenda will touch on electronic commerce, hybrid mail, safe mail, electronic registered mail, E-banking, global banking, M-post and mobile telephony, E-learning, as well as E-management.

During three days conferences, exhibits and presentations will allow participants not only to exchange experience and know- how on the latest technological innovations, but also to promote electronic applications and solutions developed by Tunisian private enterprises.

-August 12, 2006- President Ben Ali reaffirms Tunisia’s commitment to the code of personal status, a pioneering legislation adopted in 1956, which has granted Tunisian women equal rights with men. The code has banned polygamy, forced marriages and repudiation.
