Hewlett-Packard opens shop in Tunis

Tunis, June 9, 2007 (TunisiaOnline) --The American information and communication technology giant Hewlett-Packard (HP), has opened a branch in Tunis . The moves comes in concretization of a presence of more than 30 years of successful commercial activity in Tunisia .

The Executive Board of the ICT multinational has appointed Mr Sami Smaoui as the Director of HP's operations forTunisia.

So far HP has opened premises in South Africa , Morocco , Algeria , Nigeria , and Uganda .

Observers note that by transferring its know how to Tunisia and by setting up a recent strategic alliance with Microsoft in Tunis, HP will contribute to making of Tunis a regional, pioneering hub in the field of ICT's.

In 2007, the computer giant has achieved 97,1 billion dollars worth of sales throughout the world.

US Library of Congress symposium celebrates Tunisia’s Code of Personal Status

-August 12, 2006- President Ben Ali reaffirms Tunisia’s commitment to the code of personal status, a pioneering legislation adopted in 1956, which has granted Tunisian women equal rights with men. The code has banned polygamy, forced marriages and repudiation.
