Launch of a web site empowering the disabled

Tunis , June 6, 2007 (TunisiaOnline)

People with specific needs in Tunisia will henceforth be able to access a new website allowing them better integration in society. Thanks to a website launched by the Ministry of Social Affairs, Solidarity and Tunisians Abroad, people suffering from a handicap, will be able to promote their activities by giving an exhaustive list of the shops selling their products, as well as their artistic creations. This section is endowed with a hyperlink that leads to a website ( www.tasswik.com ) devoted to the commercialization of these products.

The move was announced on the occasion of the National Day of the Handicapped.

www.handicap.tn gives information aimed at presenting the site visitors with the attributes of this section of the population.

Many web sections are devoted to specific aspects of the legislation ensuring their welfare. The site also lists the conditions necessary in order for the handicapped to benefit from the help of NGO's. These conditions mainly consist in adhering to the national employment program, as well as owning the handicap card.

For the time being, there is only one Arabic version of the gateway, but it is expected that English and French versions will soon follow.
