Ambitious spa facility to be set up in Tunisia 's south.

Tunis , July 4, 2007-(TunisiaOnline)-- A thermal town is to see the day in El Hamma, in the suburbs of the southern coastal city of Gabes . The project which is based on a study carried out by the Gabes governorate and approved by the National Agency of Environmental Protection (ANPE), is one of the most ambitious tourist facilities in the area

The creation of a spa in an area known for its hot water springs, will result in the creation of some 750 permanent jobs and contribute to boosting tourism in the region. The spa is expected to accomodate up-to 2,500 tourists.

The cost of the project is estimated at more than 16 million dinars. The different components of this thermal town consist in individual, as well as collective tourist housing covering 8,5 hectares , a golf course covering 75 hectares , a sports center, a congress center, a vast esplanade, leisure facilities, commercial services, a camping area and green spaces.

The project has been designed in conformity with an urban architectural model that is meant to reveal the natural assets of the region which boasts the combined beauty of woodlands, lush oasis and mountains.

It is worth noting that the thermal town of El Khebayat in El Hamma is 20 kilometres distant from such well established tourist poles as Kebili, Gabes and Djerba.

Tunisia is currently the world's second destination for spa and thalasso activities in the world .
