US Independence Day: President Ben Ali sends a message of congratulations to President George Bush

Tunis , July 3, 2007- (TunisiaOnline)--On the occasion of the celebration of the 231 st anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America , President Ben Ali has sent a message of congratulations to President Georges Walker Bush.

In his message, the Tunisian President reaffirms the importance he grants to the ‘long standing, privileged relations between Tunisia and the United States ' calling for their promotion ‘in the service of the common goals of both countries with a view to achieving peace, security and prosperity for all the peoples of the world.'

US Library of Congress symposium celebrates Tunisia’s Code of Personal Status

-August 12, 2006- President Ben Ali reaffirms Tunisia’s commitment to the code of personal status, a pioneering legislation adopted in 1956, which has granted Tunisian women equal rights with men. The code has banned polygamy, forced marriages and repudiation.
