" International Prize of the President of the Republic of Tunisia for Islamic Studies "
The Ministry of Religious Affairs in Tunis announces that it will receive candidacies for "The International Prize of the President of the Republic for Islamic Studies" in its first session (1424 H/2003 AD), in accordance with the following conditions :
1. The prize is awarded to any person or institution that is internationally distinguished in highlighting Islam's outstanding image and noble principles and values,and in enriching interpretative thinking (Ijtihad) that believes in dialogue and openness and rejects seclusion and fanaticism .
2. Candidates to the prize must submit an original research of no less than 350 pages, written in Arabic or in any international language, in the above stated field.
3. Academic dissertations and manuscript editions will not be accepted4. The research work must not have obtained any other prize, and its first edition must not have been published more than two years before the date of its submittal.
5. The work must be submitted in five (5) copies, no later than August 15, 2003 .
6. The participation application must be accompanied by the candidate's curriculum vitae , specifying in particular his/her scientific activities, publications, and the extent of his/her contribution to enriching interpretative thinking.
7. The prize consists of an "honor certificate", a medal and a financial reward of 30.000 Tunisian dinars.
8.Candidates must send their participation files for the attention of the Minister of Religious Affairs, via registered or international mail to the following address : Ministère des Affaires Religieuses, 76 Bis , Avenue Bab Bnet 1019 (La Kasbah) Tunis, or to the Tunisian embassy in their respective countries.
